Anthropic API Pricing

Anthropic’s Claude API lineup is the most price-disciplined of the three major providers: three models, one pricing page, and two standing discounts that apply across the whole family. Claude Haiku 5.5 is the volume tier at $0.10 / $0.50 per million tokens, Claude Sonnet 5.5 is the balanced tier at $2 / $10, and Claude Opus 5.5 is the flagship at $4 / $20. All three carry a 1M-token context window, and all three halve their rates on the Batch API.

The discount structure is where Claude budgets are won or lost. Prompt caching reads are billed at a tenth of the input rate on Sonnet and Haiku, so a long, stable system prompt costs almost nothing to reuse. Batch processing takes 50% off everything for work that can wait. The one trap is Haiku’s: a single prompt over 100,000 tokens is billed entirely at five times the base rate ($0.50 / $2.50), so a RAG pipeline that occasionally retrieves too much context can spike a bill that looked predictable.
